Gluten Free RECIPE: Easy & delicious homemade Italian Tiramisu
I’ve only had Tiramisu a handful of times in my life, this one is my number 2 favorite (second to homemade fresh Tiramisu in Rome - so that’s hard to beat). Recently I’ve been missing traveling and was craving Italian tiramisu like the delicious homemade tiramisu I devoured in Rome, Italy — so I made this (super easy) gluten free tiramisu!
It makes a big difference to make your own homemade marscapone Italian cream cheese, but you can also buy marscapone cheese to make it even easier. This is like the dessert version of lasagna - once you have all the ingredients, you just layer them all together then enjoy. The fresher and higher quality the ingredients (especially for the cream) the better it will taste.
Ingredients:
Gluten Free vanilla wafers (the Kinnickinnick Vanilla Wafers box work perfectly for this!)
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup 2% milk or whole
1/2 cup coffee (you can use fresh brewed coffee, espresso or cold brew - use your favorite)
Cocoa powder
For the homemade Marscapone Cheese, you’ll need:
16 ounces cream cheese
1/3 cup sour cream
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
3/4 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh squeezed)
Steps:
To make the marscapone, use a mixer to blend together the cream cheese, sour cream, whipping cream, and lemon juice together.
Then, add the sugar and milk to the bowl with the marscapone and blend until fluffy. Add more milk if needed to get your desired level of creaminess.
Now, you are ready to assemble your tiramisu (you can do this in a cup or a pan). Layer your pan/cup with the marscapone mixture. Sprinkle cocoa powder on top.
Dip your gluten free vanilla wafers into the coffee and then place them on top of your cocoa topped marscapone mixture.
Add more layers of marscapone, cocoa sprinkled on top, and coffee dipped vanilla wafers until you run out of ingredients.
Save some of the marscapone mixture for the top (I piped in the marscapone on the top) then sprinkle the top with cocoa powder.
Time to enjoy and impress all of your friends with homemade Italian tiramisu!
How did your tiramisu turn out? Did you layer it into a glass or a pan?
Happy Baking! Xx Lindsey
I received Kinnickinnick vanilla wafers complimentary and loved them. Sharing this recipe so you can enjoy tiramisu too!
